AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE SUPPORT AND EXPANSION OF A NETWORK OF WEATHER STATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. Two million eight hundred thousand dollars ($2,800,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal years 2022 and 2023 for the office of state climatologist to expand the weather station network throughout the state, including the purchase and installation of hardware for new stations. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the general fund.

          B. Seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2022 for the office of state climatologist's administrative and operational costs to maintain the statewide weather station network. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance at the end of fiscal year 2022 shall revert to the general fund.
