AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, TRANSCRIPTS, PHOTOS, RECORDINGS AND NEWS ACCOUNTS RELATED TO THE RETURN OF BLUE LAKE TO THE PUEBLO OF TAOS AND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND MATERIALS RELATED TO THE RETURN OF BLUE LAKE AND ITS COMMEMORATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2021 to:
(1) begin the collection and preservation of records and documents related to the historic return of Blue lake to the Pueblo of Taos fifty years ago;
(2) draft and develop education programs and materials related to the history, significance and outcomes of the return of Blue lake;
(3) produce a film documenting the return for educational and informational purposes; and
(4) engage the public through a set of marketing activities for events commemorating the anniversary.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2021 shall revert to the general fund.
