AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN SERVICES PERTAINING TO THE STUDY OF METHAMPHETAMINE ADDICTION IN BERNALILLO COUNTY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2021 to contract for services in Bernalillo county to:
(1) collect and assess data regarding the correlation between methamphetamine addiction and violent crime;
(2) study the adequacy of existing resources available in New Mexico for treating methamphetamine addiction, methamphetamine overdoses and the impact of methamphetamine addiction and use on violent crime;
(3) survey best evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines for methamphetamine addiction treatment; and
(4) make recommendations for the development and expansion of methamphetamine addiction treatment services in New Mexico.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2021 shall revert to the general fund.
