AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INDIAN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT FOR OHKAY OWINGEH TO STUDY THE IMPACTS ON STREAMS AND AQUIFERS IN THE ESPANOLA BASIN OF GROUND WATER PUMPING, WATER RIGHTS AND COMPACT DELIVERIES AND TO DETERMINE THE WATER YIELD AND WATER QUALITY OF THE ESPANOLA BASIN.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2020 for Ohkay Owingeh to study the impacts on streams and aquifers in the Espanola basin of ground water pumping, water rights and compact deliveries and to determine the water yield and water quality of the Espanola basin. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2020 shall revert to the general fund.
