    Your ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 543

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 3, line 3, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     2. On page 3, line 6, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     3. On page 3, line 7, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     4. On page 3, line 23, strike "cultural affairs" and insert lieu thereof "tourism".

 

     5. On page 4, line 24, after "website", insert "and other digital instruments".

 

     6. On page 4, line 25, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     7. On page 5, line 16, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     8. On page 5, line 19, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     9. On page 5, line 22, strike "tourism" and insert in lieu thereof "cultural affairs".

 

     10. On page 5, line 24, through page 6, line 9, strike Subsections G and H in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof:

 

          "G. Money in the fund may be used for the following purposes:

 

                (1) the expenses of the commission up to five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for carrying out its duties, including the costs of field hearings, hiring technical experts and other expenses as necessary;

 

                (2) planning grants to local public agencies of up to one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) per agency for the purposes of studying the need for and the costs and benefits of developing physical improvements, facilities, marketing and interpretive services in an area to enhance the visitor experience and increase tourism; provided that at least fifty percent of the total cost of a study is provided in non-state money; and

 

                (3) loans to local public agencies for the design, construction and installation of physical improvements and facilities.".,

 

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS & FINANCE COMMITTEE.
