AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE THE STATUTORILY REQUIRED MENTORING OF LEVEL ONE TEACHERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2020 to pay the cost of mentoring all beginning level one teachers as required by Section 22-10A-7 NMSA 1978 and rules promulgated to carry out that requirement. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2020 shall revert to the general fund.
