AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE GRANT AND SIERRA WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICTS TO COMPLETE FOREST RESTORATION PROJECTS IN THE GILA NATIONAL FOREST.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2020 for the Grant and Sierra water conservation districts to complete forest restoration work in the Gila national forest through mechanical treatment or prescribed fires. The restoration work shall be completed on acres that have already been cleared for treatment by meeting the documentation requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2020 shall revert to the general fund.
