AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO INCREASE REIMBURSEMENT RATES FOR PERSONAL CARE SERVICES IN THE MEDICAID PROGRAM; REQUIRING NOT LESS THAN ONE-HALF OF THE APPROPRIATION BE USED TO INCREASE WAGES FOR WORKERS DIRECTLY PROVIDING THOSE SERVICES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six million dollars ($6,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2020 for an increase in reimbursement rates for personal care services that provide assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living in the medicaid program, of which not less than fifty percent must be dedicated to increase wages for workers directly providing these services. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2020 shall revert to the general fund.
