AN ACT
RELATING TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSES; AUTHORIZING A LICENSED INTERIOR DESIGNER TO SUBMIT PLANS TO A GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING REQUISITE PERMITS FOR AN INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. A new section of the Interior Designers Act is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] PERMIT AUTHORITY.--A licensed interior designer who signs, stamps or seals a plan, specification, report or document may submit the plan, specification, report or document to a county, municipal or state authority for the purpose of obtaining a requisite permit for an interior design project. A county, municipal or state authority shall not refuse to accept a plan, specification, report or document submitted by a licensed interior designer for the purpose of obtaining a requisite permit, unless:
A. the signature, stamp or seal of the licensed interior designer is absent; or
B. the plan, specification, report or document, in whole or part, does not conform to standards of reasonable professional skill and diligence as determined by the board."
