AN ACT
RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES; CREATING THE CRIME OF MISREPRESENTATION OF MILITARY SERVICE; PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] MISREPRESENTATION OF MILITARY SERVICE--PENALTY.--Misrepresentation of military service consists of a person misrepresenting that person's self as having served or currently serving in the United States armed forces for the intentional taking of anything of value based on the person's military service. Whoever commits misrepresentation of military service is guilty of a misdemeanor.
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2018.
