A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FEBRUARY 27, 2017 "BRAIN EDUCATION DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

 

     WHEREAS, the education of young people is one of the most important responsibilities that protects the integrity of democracy; and

     WHEREAS, Ilchi Lee is a dedicated advocate for a peaceful, sustainable world, a New York Times best-selling author, an innovative leader in human brain potential development and a true believer in the power of all people to change themselves and the world around them; and

     WHEREAS, Ilchi Lee has developed many mind-body training methods, including brain education, and has helped millions of people globally find their true potential and to develop that potential for the benefit of everyone; and

     WHEREAS, the philosophy behind brain education and the history of its ancient roots lends itself to academic application and takes education a step further than intellectual understanding; and

     WHEREAS, brain education is a creative integration of eastern mindfulness practice and modern discoveries in neuroscience and education; and

     WHEREAS, brain education seeks the holistic development of human potential, encompassing physical, emotional, intellectual, moral and spiritual aspects of humanity; and

     WHEREAS, brain education develops methods that have been applied to school districts in New Mexico and various organizations around the world to enable participants to live healthier and happier lives;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 27, 2017 be declared "Brain Education Day" in the house of representatives; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the higher education and public education departments be requested to consider implementation of brain education into professional development for teachers and into the curriculum for education students; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of higher education and the secretary of public education.
