Your FINANCE COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 209
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 1, line 13, strike "AND" and insert in lieu thereof a comma.
2. On page 1, line 14, after "REMEDIATION", insert "AND PROFICIENCY".
3. On page 2, after line 25, insert the following new subsection:
"B. By June 30 after each school year, school districts and state-chartered charter schools shall provide a report, on a form developed by the department, to the secretary that shall provide, without divulging the identity of the students, the following information about students who were recommended for retention in the same grade but were, nevertheless, promoted to the next grade because of a parent's request for a waiver from retention:
(1) the number of students who achieved proficiency in the next grade and were promoted; and
(2) the number of students who did not achieve proficiency in the next grade, who were promoted and who were retained.".
4. Reletter the succeeding subsection accordingly.
