AN ACT

RELATING TO STATE EMPLOYEES; REQUIRING STATE AGENCIES TO ANNUALLY REPORT STATISTICAL DATA ON THE DIVERSITY OF ITS WORKFORCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 10 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] DIVERSITY IN STATE GOVERNMENT--COLLECTION OF STATISTICAL DATA.--

          A. A state agency, including a department, institution, board, bureau, commission or district of the executive, legislative or judicial branch of the state, shall collect and maintain statistical data on the racial, ethnic and gender composition of its workforce, including elected and appointed officers and employees. Each agency shall annually, on or before July 1, provide a report of the statistical data collected to the state personnel office.

          B. The state personnel office shall aggregate the statistical data reported by the state agencies pursuant to Subsection A of this section and shall publish the data to the New Mexico sunshine portal website."
