A MEMORIAL

DECLARING JANUARY 21, 2016 "OFFICER DANIEL SCOTT WEBSTER DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, on October 29, 2015, Albuquerque police department Officer Daniel Scott Webster succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained in the line of duty and ended his watch; and

     WHEREAS, Officer Webster left a legacy that is filled with honor, excellence, service to country and service to others; and

     WHEREAS, Officer Webster was a highly decorated United States army paratrooper who served in multiple deployments and combat tours, including Panama, Bosnia, Africa, the first Gulf war and several tours to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait; and

     WHEREAS, after retiring from twenty years of dignified military service, he continued to serve his community by joining the Albuquerque police department; and

     WHEREAS, Officer Webster served nearly nine years with the Albuquerque police department in several capacities, including detective and patrol officer in southeast Albuquerque; and

     WHEREAS, in 2013, Officer Webster was named Albuquerque police department uniformed officer of the year in recognition of his determination, motivation and leadership among his peers; and

     WHEREAS, Albuquerque police chief Gorden Eden said Officer Webster "was the very best example of a life committed to public service, through his service to our country and to our community"; and

     WHEREAS, Officer Webster was known as a good man, a loving son, father and grandfather, a friend to many and a dedicated husband above all else; and

     WHEREAS, Officer Webster is survived by his mother, Gayle Hanafin and husband, John; his father, Daniel Arthur Webster and stepmother, Sabina; his wife, Michelle Carlino-Webster; his children, Rebecca Ingham and husband, Johnny, Danielle Modrow and Ashleigh Webster; his grandmother, Eleanor Bain; grandchildren, Addyson, Jaxson, Sophia, Raelynn, Quincy, Braydon and Patrick; his brother, Doug Webster and wife, Christy and their two children, Adam and Elizabeth; his half-brothers, Joshua Webster and Nathan Webster; and his beloved canine friend, Sage;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that January 21, 2016 be declared "Officer Daniel Scott Webster Day" in the house of representatives in honor of the dedicated, selfless service Officer Webster gave his country and community and for making the ultimate sacrifice in his commitment to protect and serve; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that condolences be extended to the family and friends of Officer Webster, an honorable and heroic New Mexican; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the family of Officer Webster.
