AN ACT
RELATING TO MEDICAL ASSISTANCE; ENACTING A SECTION OF LAW TO REQUIRE THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO AMEND THE STATE MEDICAID PLAN TO PROVIDE FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF LICENSED ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE COUNSELORS; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] LICENSED ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE COUNSELOR SERVICES--MEDICAID STATE PLAN AMENDMENT.--The secretary of human services shall amend the state medicaid plan to provide for the reimbursement of alcohol and drug abuse treatment services by alcohol and drug abuse counselors licensed pursuant to the Counseling and Therapy Practice Act.
SECTION 2. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to fund the reimbursement of services provided to medicaid recipients by licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselors. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
