AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO ACQUIRE COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS SOFTWARE TO PROVIDE WEB-BASED SOLUTIONS THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS MAY APPLY TO USE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thirty thousand dollars ($330,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to purchase software that can address the requirements of next-step plans pursuant to Section 22-13-1.1 NMSA 1978 and that provides web-based solutions for students, counselors, teachers and parents to become engaged in exploration, planning and preparation for college and careers. The software shall also provide web-based solutions for professional development options for school staff that work well with typical New Mexico demographics. School districts shall apply to the public education department to use the web-based solution software. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
