AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION TO RECRUIT, TRAIN AND EDUCATE ADDITIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS FOR COMMUNITY POLICING AND COMMUNITY SAFETY PROGRAMS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to recruit, train and educate additional law enforcement officers for community policing programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
B. Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to recruit, train and educate additional firefighters for community safety programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
