AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A FILMMAKING ACADEMY PILOT PROGRAM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 for Santa Fe community college to develop a pilot program for a publicly funded, conservatory-style, accredited film academy

that will cultivate film producers and directors from New Mexico by employing practice and theory to train students in the creation, production management, small-business development and post-production of short films and television documentaries that will be submitted to statewide and national film festivals. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
