A MEMORIAL

CONGRATULATING THE 2015 CLIFF HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM

 

     WHEREAS, the Cliff high school cowboys have a long history of excellence in high school basketball and have won eleven state championships; and

     WHEREAS, on March 14, 2015, in the pit on the university of New Mexico campus, Cliff overcame a ten-point deficit to win the class A state basketball championship tournament against Hondo Valley by a score of forty-eight to thirty-six; and

     WHEREAS, this was Cliff high school head basketball coach Brian Shock's first state championship win; and

     WHEREAS, winning is a family tradition for the Shocks; and

     WHEREAS, Cliff high school won ten state basketball championships with Brian's father, Cliff high school athletic director Pete Shock, as head basketball coach; and

     WHEREAS, Cliff posted a season record of twenty-eight wins and two losses and holds a district record of six wins and no losses; and

     WHEREAS, Cliff finished the season ranked twenty-fifth in the state, regardless of class; and

     WHEREAS, Cliff is the regular season district 2A champion and the district 2A tournament champion; and

     WHEREAS, the Cliff high school cowboys won all three invitational tournaments they attended: the Cliff roundup, the Cloudcroft mountaintop and the Lordsburg maverick stampede;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that members and the coaches of the Cliff high school basketball team be congratulated for winning the 2015 class A state basketball championship tournament; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the team members and coaches of the 2015 Cliff high school basketball team.
