A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE MAGDALENA STEERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND CONGRATULATING THEM ON AN UNDEFEATED SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Magdalena steers boys basketball team capped off an undefeated season by winning the AA state championship over the Logan longhorns in overtime by a single point; and

     WHEREAS, the final score was sixty-one to sixty; and

     WHEREAS, after a twenty-nine-win, two-loss season last year and a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals of the 2014 state championship, the players used those losses as motivation and came back to post the only undefeated season in the state this year; and

     WHEREAS, led by Coach Jory Mirabal and Assistant Coach Clay Clark, the steers won thirty-one games on their way to the title; and

     WHEREAS, the AA state championship is the first state basketball championship won in the school's history;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the Magdalena steers boys basketball team be recognized for an undefeated season and be congratulated on winning the AA state championship; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the Magdalena boys basketball team players, Assistant Coach Clay Clark and Coach Jory Mirabal.
