A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE NINETIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LAS VEGAS-SAN MIGUEL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY.

     WHEREAS, the Las Vegas-San Miguel chamber of commerce and industry works with businesses, merchants and industry to advance the economic, industrial, professional, civic and cultural life of the city of Las Vegas and the county of San Miguel; and

     WHEREAS, chambers of commerce and industry have contributed to the civic and economic life of New Mexico and the northeast region for ninety years, since the Las Vegas-San Miguel chamber of commerce and industry was founded in 1925; and

     WHEREAS, 2015 marks the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Las Vegas-San Miguel chamber of commerce and industry, a leading broad-based business development organization that serves as a unified voice for business; and

     WHEREAS, chambers of commerce and industry provide residents with a strong business environment positioned to increase employment and work force security by encouraging the growth of existing industries, products, services and commercial firms and encourages new businesses and individuals to locate in San Miguel county; and

     WHEREAS, the Las Vegas-San Miguel county chamber of commerce and industry and its members strive to serve as a community pillar to bring business leaders, policymakers, volunteers and professionals together to serve the community and to create hope for, and access to, a productive, prosperous future; and

     WHEREAS, the Las Vegas-San Miguel chamber of commerce and industry supports America's free enterprise system and advocates for the nation's values of freedom, economic equality and civility by serving as a liaison with the state and local governments and the broad New Mexico economic development community;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to the Las Vegas-San Miguel county chamber of commerce and industry in observance of its ninety years of continuous civic and professional service to the businesses and residents of the city of Las Vegas and the county of San Miguel; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the executive director of the Las Vegas-San Miguel chamber of commerce and industry.
