A MEMORIAL
RECOGNIZING THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF NEW MEXICO AND HONORING THE VALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT THE CLUBS MAKE TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, boys and girls clubs provide services to more than twenty-seven thousand five hundred school-aged young people in twenty-one cities in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the goal of boys and girls clubs is to inspire all young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens; and
WHEREAS, through strong, proven developmental programs, leaders of the boys and girls clubs stress character and leadership development, education and career advancement and health and life skills; and
WHEREAS, leaders also encourage an appreciation for the arts and provide programs in sports, fitness and recreation; and
WHEREAS, the programs offered promote a better self-image and improved education, social, emotional and cultural awareness while encouraging community involvement, strong moral values and enhanced life management skills; and
WHEREAS, through the years, the boys and girls clubs have encouraged young people to aspire to the highest level of personal development and to become good citizens who are involved in their communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the boys and girls clubs of New Mexico be recognized for the outstanding services they provide to young people and their families; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the boys and girls clubs of New Mexico.
