A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 9, 2015 AS "AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN NEW MEXICO DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, 2015 is the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the American association of university women of the state of New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, the American association of university women's mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research; and

     WHEREAS, the American association of university women of New Mexico's priorities for 2015 are to support a program to educate and galvanize women voters; to support a strong, adequately funded program for public education; to support programs to encourage women to achieve economic self-sufficiency; to support a program for quality, affordable health care for all New Mexicans, including choice in the determination of a woman's reproductive life; to support campaign finance and ethics reform; and to support civil liberties and all efforts to preserve the rights guaranteed in the constitution of New Mexico;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the American association of university women of New Mexico's programs be recognized for the important role they have played in empowering women since 1981; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 9, 2015 be proclaimed "American Association of University Women New Mexico Day" in the house of representatives; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the president of the American association of university women of the state of New Mexico.
