Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 127
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 1, line 12, before the period, insert "; PROVIDING FOR ALTERNATE DEMONSTRATIONS OF COMPETENCY FOR GRADUATION".
2. On page 7, line 16, strike "Final" and insert in lieu thereof "End of course final".
3. On page 7, line 17, strike "Final" and insert in lieu thereof "End of course final".
4. On page 7, line 18, after "developed", insert "or selected".
5. On page 8, line 20, strike "non-assessments".
6. On page 8, line 21, after the period, insert:
"O. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, a student may, with teacher approval, submit a portfolio of standards-based indicators as an alternate demonstration of competency. School administrators shall establish local procedures for determining whether the alternate demonstration of competency:
(1) is complete and scorable;
(2) addresses the appropriate academic content standards; and
(3) adequately shows competency.

7. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.,
and thence referred to the PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE.
