AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES AND RAPID REHOUSING SERVICES FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure by the New Mexico mortgage finance authority in fiscal year 2016 to assist people who are homeless with services, including transitional supportive housing, permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing. Assistance may include case management services, life-skills training, housing counseling, short-term and long-term rental assistance and other services that help homeless people obtain and maintain stable permanent housing. No more than five percent of this appropriation shall be used by the New Mexico mortgage finance authority for administrative expenses. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.
