    Your REGULATORY AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 588

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 1, lines 11 and 12, strike "REQUIRING" and insert in lieu thereof "CLARIFYING THE TRANSACTIONS", after "PAWNBROKERS", insert "ARE REQUIRED TO" and strike "NEW ITEMS AND ITEMS PURCHASED FOR RESALE".

     2. On page 3, line 10, strike "new and" and insert in lieu thereof "property that is new, in its original packaging or is otherwise unused and all" and after "kind", insert "that was".

     3. On page 3, line 13, after "agency", insert "; provided that a pawnbroker shall not be required to report a purchase that is made via the internet, from a licensed business or from an artist who manufactured the purchased item and with whom the pawnbroker has an ongoing business relationship".,

and thence referred to the BUSINESS AND EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE.
