A MEMORIAL
COMMENDING THE NEW MEXICO ALLIANCE OF BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS AND PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 12, 2013 "BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS DAY" IN THE SENATE.
WHEREAS, boys and girls clubs provide services to approximately thirty-one thousand school-aged youth in forty-four club sites in twenty-five cities in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the boys and girls clubs is to inspire all young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens; and
WHEREAS, through strong, proven development programs, leaders in the boys and girls clubs stress character, leadership, education, career advancement, health and life skills; encourage appreciation for the arts; and provide programs in sports, fitness and recreation; and
WHEREAS, boys and girls clubs programs promote a better self-image and improved educational, social, emotional and cultural awareness while encouraging community involvement, strong moral values and enhanced life management skills; and
WHEREAS, through the years, boys and girls clubs have encouraged young people to aspire to the highest level of personal development and to become good citizens who are involved in their communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico alliance of boys and girls clubs and each club individually be commended for the valuable contributions they make to the young people of New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 12, 2013 be proclaimed "Boys and Girls Clubs Day" in the senate; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico alliance of boys and girls clubs.
