A JOINT MEMORIAL
REQUESTING THE CONTINUATION OF THE STATEWIDE TASK FORCE TO ASSESS AND RECOMMEND POLICY OPTIONS TO ADDRESS FAMILY-FRIENDLY WORKPLACES FOR NEW MEXICO WOMEN AND FAMILIES.
WHEREAS, a statewide task force on family-friendly workplaces for New Mexico women and families was convened pursuant to House Memorial 1 of the first session of the fiftieth legislature; and
WHEREAS, the task force recently made its final report to the legislative health and human services committee in the 2012 interim; and
WHEREAS, the task force would like to continue its work to increase the participation of private and public employers in its activities and research; and
WHEREAS, the task force recommends the development of an award program to recognize employers who demonstrate a commitment to family-friendly workplace policies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the university of New Mexico's bureau of business and economic research be requested to extend the task force; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the task force focus its efforts on greater employer participation and involvement in the development and support of family-friendly workplaces, including the development of an award program to recognize employers demonstrating a commitment to family-friendly workplace policies; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the task force report on its efforts to increase employer participation to the legislative health and human services committee by November 1, 2013; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor, the chair and vice chair of the legislative health and human services committee, the secretary of workforce solutions, the secretary of economic development, the secretary of health, the secretary of human services, the secretary of children, youth and families and the director of the university of New Mexico's bureau of business and economic research and to every local chamber of commerce in New Mexico.
