A MEMORIAL
DECLARING MARCH 1, 2013 "TIME MANAGEMENT DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF NEW MEXICO AND URGING ITS MEMBERS TO USE THEIR TIME EFFICIENTLY AND IN A BENEFICIAL MANNER BEFITTING THEIR POSITIONS.
WHEREAS, there are only sixty allotted days in the first session of the fifty-first legislative session; and
WHEREAS, the members of the house of representatives and senate of the state of New Mexico are required to have at least two hours of ethics training, but not training in time management; and
WHEREAS, in joint sessions of the house and senate, members may speak for up to twenty minutes for no particular purpose; and
WHEREAS, countless hours are spent on introductions and applause for guests, members and other individuals; and
WHEREAS, countless hours are spent singing the traditional song of "Happy Birthday"; and
WHEREAS, countless hours are spent on memorials; and WHEREAS, countless hours are spent with endless filibustering by members on the house floor; and
WHEREAS, enough time has been spent to justify a "Let's Do Nothing Day" in the house of representatives; and
WHEREAS, this memorial is a short, concise, three hundred four words long, more or less;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that March 1, 2013 be declared "Time Management Day" in the house of representatives; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the house of representatives request that its members use their time efficiently and in a beneficial manner befitting their positions; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to each member of the house of representatives and the senate of the state of New Mexico.
