AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO WATER RESOURCES PROGRAM TO CONDUCT A SITING STUDY TO IDENTIFY A REPOSITORY FOR EXISTING RADIOACTIVE WASTE FROM PAST URANIUM MINING ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE GRANTS MINERAL BELT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 for the university of New Mexico water resources program to conduct a siting study to identify a repository for existing radioactive waste from past uranium mining activities throughout the Grants mineral belt. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
