AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INDIAN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE TRAINING TO JUDGES AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REGARDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 to contract with an organization with decades of Indian law and policy experience to develop and provide training to tribal court judges, magistrate judges and local law enforcement on the complexities of handling domestic violence cases occurring across multiple jurisdictions and on related policies, laws and court development. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
