AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PARTICIPATE IN A CONTRACT FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF SETTLEMENT POTENTIAL IN THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO V. KERR-MCGEE WATER RIGHTS LITIGATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of the state engineer for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 to contract in cooperation with the United States for an independent assessment of the settlement potential in subproceeding 1 of the pending water rights litigation styled State of New Mexico ex rel. State Engineer v. Kerr-McGee, et al. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
