AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT FOR THE JUVENILE CONTINUUM GRANT FUND TO ENABLE RURAL COUNTIES TO DEVELOP A JUVENILE JUSTICE CONTINUUM OF SERVICES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 for the juvenile continuum grant fund to develop in rural communities a continuum of cost- effective services and temporary, non-secure alternatives to detention for juveniles arrested or referred to juvenile probation or at a risk of such referral, including prevention, diversion and early intervention as prescribed in the Children's Code. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2015 shall revert to the general fund.
