Mr. Speaker:

 

    Your HEALTH, GOVERNMENT & INDIAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 306

 

has had it under consideration and reports same WITHOUT RECOMMENDATION, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 3, line 6, before the semicolon insert ", unless the applicant has already received such training under Paragraph (2) of Subsection C of Section 29-1-11 NMSA 1978, or has received the training required of deputy sheriffs in the county to which the applicant will be commissioned".

 

     2. On page 4, line 6, before the semicolon, insert "and coextensive with the boundaries of the county".

 

     3. On page 4, line 9, strike the comma and the remainder of the line.

 

     4. On page 4, strike lines 10 through 25, and on page 5, strike lines 1 through 25 and insert in lieu thereof "; and".

 

     5. On page 6, between lines 6 and 7, insert the following new subsection:

 

          "D. Agreements that exist between sheriffs and the police departments or sheriff's offices of any New Mexico Indian nation, tribe or pueblo as of the effective date of this 2013 act shall remain in effect notwithstanding the provisions of this 2013 act. Agreements that expire after the effective date of this 2013 act shall be renewed under the provisions of this 2013 act.".

 

     6. Reletter the succeeding subsection accordingly.

 

     7. On page 6, line 9, before the period, insert ", or the laws of that Indian nation, tribe or pueblo".

 

     8. On page 10, line 10, strike "may" and insert in lieu thereof "shall".

 

     9. On page 10, line 11, strike "and including the area" and insert in lieu thereof "the exterior boundaries of those counties wherein Navajo Indian country lands are located, including Navajo communities located outside the exterior boundaries of the Navajo reservation; and".

 

     10. On page 10, strike line 12 through page 12, line 14.

 

     11. On page 12, line 24, before the period, insert ", or the laws of that Indian nation, tribe or pueblo".,
