AN ACT

RELATING TO GAME HUNTING; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF CHAPTER 17 NMSA 1978 TO PROVIDE FOR FREE ELK LICENSES TO AT LEAST FIVE DISABLED VETERANS EACH YEAR.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 17 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] ELK LICENSES--DISABLED VETERANS.--The department of game and fish shall reserve at least five elk licenses a year for persons who have served in the armed forces of the United States and have a service-related disability of at least fifty percent, certified by the veterans' services department. The state game commission shall adopt rules for the time and location that the licensee may exercise this privilege. A veteran who receives a license pursuant to this section shall not receive any other elk license."
