A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION OF THE ALBUQUERQUE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD ESTABLISHING ELECTION DISTRICTS FOLLOWING THE 2010 FEDERAL DECENNIAL CENSUS.

     WHEREAS, Article 12, Section 15 of the constitution of New Mexico requires legislative approval of school board member districts established by resolution of a local school board with seven members in districts with a population of more than two hundred thousand; and

     WHEREAS, the local school board for the Albuquerque public school district is composed of seven members, the district has a population of more than two hundred thousand and the school board approved a resolution establishing new school board member districts on January 23, 2012;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the resolution establishing new school board member districts for the Albuquerque public school district is hereby approved; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the school board of the Albuquerque public school district.
