AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS TO SUPPORT INNOVATIVE DIGITAL EDUCATION AND ONLINE LEARNING IN NEW MEXICO FOR PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the following entities for expenditure in fiscal year 2013 to support innovative digital education and online learning programs in New Mexico in the following amounts and in the following distributions:

                (1) one million two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,250,000) to the public education department to be expended for pre-kindergarten through high school programs; and

                (2) one million two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,250,000) to the higher education department to be expended for higher education programs.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.
