AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A PROGRAM TO STIMULATE AND ENCOURAGE THE INTEREST OF YOUTH IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS AND IN CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THOSE FIELDS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2013 to assist local governments and educational institutions in northern New Mexico to engage a vendor experienced in practical scientific and technological education to continue a successful national science foundation pilot program in Rio Arriba, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Taos counties for teenagers that is provided at no charge and that promotes interest and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.
