A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011, "COACH MICHAEL BRADLEY DAY" IN THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, Michael Bradley was born and raised in Las Cruces and was a graduate of Goddard high school in 1981, New Mexico state university in 1987 and the University of Iowa in 1994; and

     WHEREAS, he went on to be assistant coach at Mayfield high school from 1987 to 1990 and graduate assistant coach at the university of Iowa under coaching legend Hayden Fry from 1991 to 1993; and

     WHEREAS, he was defensive coordinator at Mayfield high school under the head coach, his father Jim Bradley, winning four state championships in 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2005 and his teams finished as runner-ups to the state champions in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and had an overall record of one hundred twenty-three wins and twenty-four losses; and

     WHEREAS, Michael became head coach in 2006 and led Mayfield high school to an undefeated season; and

     WHEREAS, Mayfield high school is the class 5A football team of the decade, with four state championships, four runner-ups and two semifinal appearances; and

     WHEREAS, in 2010, Mayfield had a record of six wins and four losses in the regular season; however, the team caught fire in the playoffs and eventually won the state championship, beating Manzano by a score of sixty-eight to forty-two;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Friday, March 11, 2011, be declared "Coach Michael Bradley Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that congratulations be extended to Michael Bradley for his hard work, dedication and sportsmanship and for leading Mayfield high school to victory in the 2010 New Mexico football state championship; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Michael Bradley.
