A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2011, TO BE "ANTI-RACISM DAY" AT THE SENATE.

     WHEREAS, New Mexico is a minority-majority state with a rich and diverse population representing various racial and ethnic groups; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico is most successful when every New Mexican has equitable access to the conditions that support New Mexico's well-being; and

     WHEREAS, progress toward equity for New Mexicans has not been achieved because too many New Mexicans are still not able to access the opportunity grid; and

     WHEREAS, eliminating all barriers to equity for all New Mexicans regardless of race, ethnicity or cultural background continues to be New Mexico's goal; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico affirms its commitment to the principles of equity and access for all;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Thursday, February 10, 2011, be designated as "Anti-Racism Day" at the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the governor.
