AN ACT
RELATING TO PUBLIC BUILDINGS; REQUIRING ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE CONTRIBUTION OF NEW MEXICO TAXPAYERS TO BE PLACED FIRST ON PLAQUES ON CERTAIN PUBLIC BUILDINGS FUNDED BY PUBLIC MONEY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. Section 13-8-1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2001, Chapter 85, Section 1) is amended to read:
"13-8-1. PUBLIC BUILDINGS--ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF TAXPAYERS WHEN ELECTED OFFICIALS ACKNOWLEDGED.--On every new or renovated public building plaque that lists, acknowledges or thanks the elected officials who were in office at the time the building was funded, constructed or renovated, there shall be included above and before the listing of public officials a statement of equal size and visibility that thanks the taxpayers of New Mexico for their contribution in funding the construction or renovation."
