    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 146

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, lines 13 and 14, strike "A SPOUSE AS THE BENEFICIARY UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES" and insert in lieu thereof "ANOTHER BENEFICIARY UPON THE DEATH OF THE INITIAL DESIGNATED BENEFICIARY; AMENDING THE EDUCATIONAL RETIREMENT ACT TO ALLOW A DESELECTION AND A DESIGNATION OF ANOTHER BENEFICIARY UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES".

    2. On page 3, line 5, after "C", strike the remainder of the line and strike line 6 through "beneficiary".

    3. On page 3, line 7, strike "spouse" and insert in lieu thereof "designated survivor pension beneficiary".

    4. On page 3, line 8, strike ", upon remarriage,".

    5. On page 3, line 9, strike "the current spouse" and insert in lieu thereof "another individual".

    6. On page 3, lines 12 through 15, strike Paragraph (1) in its entirety.

    7. Renumber the succeeding paragraphs accordingly.

    8. On page 4, line 9, strike "and".

    9. On page 4, line 14, strike "or" and insert in lieu thereof "and".

    10. On page 4, between lines 14 and 15, insert the following subparagraph:

                  "(c) the retired member shall pay one hundred dollars ($100) to the retirement board to defray the cost of determining the new pension amount; or".

    11. On page 6, line 9, strike "a spouse who was".

    12. On page 6, lines 9 and 10, strike ", upon remarriage,".

    13. On page 6, line 11, strike "the current spouse" and insert in lieu thereof "another individual".

    14. On page 6, lines 14 through 17, strike Paragraph (1) in its entirety.

    15. Renumber the succeeding paragraphs accordingly.,

and thence referred to the PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE.
