A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE IMPORTANT COOPERATIVE ROLES OF THE CIBOLA COUNTY COMMISSION AND THE CIBOLA GENERAL HOSPITAL CORPORATION IN THE UNINTERRUPTED AND ONGOING SUCCESSFUL OPERATION OF CIBOLA GENERAL HOSPITAL.

     WHEREAS, Cibola county owns Cibola general hospital; and

     WHEREAS, the Cibola county commission entered into a cooperative agreement with the Cibola general hospital corporation that expires in December 2014; and

     WHEREAS, under the cooperative agreement, the role of the Cibola general hospital corporation is to manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital; and

     WHEREAS, under the cooperative agreement, the role of the Cibola county commission is to oversee the management and ensure the successful operation of the hospital on behalf of the residents of Cibola county; and

     WHEREAS, Cibola general hospital is the primary health care provider, serving forty-five percent of Cibola county residents and serving clients and patients in the wide geographic and primarily rural areas of Cibola and McKinley counties; and

     WHEREAS, the hospital provides one hundred fifty-five jobs and is significant to the general economic and physical well-being of residents in Cibola county and surrounding areas; and

     WHEREAS, members of the Cibola county commission, as elected officials of Cibola county, provide a public service that advances the economic and physical well-being of the residents of Cibola county; and

     WHEREAS, it is critical that the Cibola county commission and the Cibola general hospital corporation continue to collaborate to ensure the continued successful operation and ongoing development of the hospital for the benefit of the broadening community that it serves;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the importance of the cooperative roles of both the Cibola county commission and the Cibola general hospital corporation in ensuring the uninterrupted and ongoing successful operation of Cibola general hospital for the benefit of the residents of Cibola county and surrounding areas be recognized; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the Cibola county commission and the Cibola general hospital corporation.
