A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE APPROPRIATE LEGISLATIVE INTERIM COMMITTEES DEALING WITH LAND GRANT ISSUES AND INDIAN AFFAIRS TO HOLD A JOINT MEETING ON ISSUES FACING THE LAND GRANT AND NATIVE AMERICAN COMMUNITIES.

     WHEREAS, both the Spanish and Mexican land grant-merced community and the Native American tribal community recognize the importance of being land-based communities; and

     WHEREAS, there are legislative interim committees that deal with land grant issues and Indian affairs;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the appropriate legislative interim committees dealing with land grant issues and Indian affairs hold a joint meeting during the 2010 interim to hear about issues facing the land grant and Native American communities; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the Indian affairs department, the land grant council and the co-chairs of the New Mexico legislative council.
