A MEMORIAL
RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 8, 2010 AS "THE ONE-HUNDRED-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA DAY" AT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
WHEREAS, the boy scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations, with over two and one-half million member scouts; and
WHEREAS, the boy scouts of America prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them positive values; and
WHEREAS, helping youth build positive character traits and physical fitness is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible and productive society; and
WHEREAS, for one hundred years, the boy scouts of America has provided and continues to provide a program for young people that builds character, teaches the responsibilities of participatory citizenship and develops personal fitness; and
WHEREAS, for one hundred years, the boy scouts of America has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun outdoor activities; and
WHEREAS, February 8, 2010 marks the one-hundred-year birthday of the incorporation of the boy scouts of America;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 8, 2010 be recognized as "The One-Hundred-Year Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America Day" at the house of representatives and that recognition be extended to all the local council service centers and districts in New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
transmitted to the council scout executives of the local council service centers serving New Mexico.
