A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TO DIRECT THE APPROPRIATE INTERIM COMMITTEE TO INCLUDE A TAX CREDIT FOR VOLTAGE REGULATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT IN A RESIDENCE, BUSINESS OR AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISE IN THE COMMITTEE'S 2010 WORK PLAN.

 

     WHEREAS, House Bill 134 introduced during the 2010 session would have provided a tax credit for voltage regulation technology equipment in a residence, business or agricultural enterprise; and

     WHEREAS, existing tax incentives are provided for solar energy, coal gasification facilities, alternative energy products, renewable energy production, geothermal heat pumps and other nonconventional energy systems; and

     WHEREAS, the most cost-effective method for conserving energy and providing for the nation's energy security is through advances in energy efficiency, including voltage regulation technology;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico legislative council be requested to direct the appropriate 2010 interim committee to include in its work plan review of tax incentives for voltage regulation technology in residences, businesses and agricultural enterprises; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the members of the New Mexico legislative council.
