AN ACT

RELATING TO ENERGY POLICY; ALLOWING THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS FOR A STUDY OF THE IMPLICATIONS OF TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE ACCOUNTABILITY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE ACCOUNTABILITY STUDY--SECRETARY OF ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES MAY ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS.--The secretary of energy, minerals and natural resources may accept donations and grants to fund a two-year study of the implications of triple bottom line accountability, an accounting methodology that captures an expanded spectrum of values and criteria for measuring organizational success. Money received for this purpose shall be accounted for and expended separately. The energy, minerals and natural resources department shall provide periodic reports to the legislature on the donations and grants and on the conduct and findings of the study. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2012 shall revert to the general fund.
