AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GAME AND FISH.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. SHORT TITLE.--This act may be cited as the "Department of Game and Fish Appropriation Act".

     Section 2. DEFINITION.--As used in the Department of Game and Fish Appropriation Act, "federal funds" means payments by the United States government to state government or state agencies, except those payments made in accordance with the federal Mineral Leasing Act and the federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972.

     Section 3. FORMAT.--The general format of the appropriations set forth in the Department of Game and Fish Appropriation Act, with respect to symbols used, column headings and stating of amounts, is that used in the General Appropriation Act of 2009.

(1) Sport hunting and fishing:

The purpose of the sport hunting and fishing program is to provide a statewide system for hunting activities as well as self-sustaining and hatchery-supported fisheries, taking into account hunter safety, quality hunts, high demand areas, guides and outfitters and quotas and ensuring that local and financial interests receive consideration.

The purpose of the wildlife depredation and nuisance abatement program is to provide complaint administration and intervention processes to private landowners, leaseholders and other New Mexicans so they may be relieved of and precluded from property damage, annoyances or risks to public safety caused by protected wildlife.
