A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO ENCOURAGE SCHOOL BOARDS TO PLACE MORE EMPHASIS ON AMERICANISM AND RESPECT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FLAG.

     WHEREAS, there has been a continuing decline in our nation's schools in the areas of Americanism and proper respect for the American flag; and

     WHEREAS, the American legion supports continuing education in our nation's schools in the areas of Americanism and proper respect for the flag;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the public education department be requested to encourage school boards to place more emphasis on Americanism and respect for our country and flag; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of public education.
