WHEREAS, the residents of the county of Los Alamos, as part of their community's sixtieth anniversary celebration, wish to recognize the residents of New Mexico for their help and support during and in the aftermath of the Cerro Grande fire of 2000 by donating a plaque to that effect to be installed at the capitol; and

WHEREAS, the donated plaque would be inscribed substantially as follows:
"Dedicated to the People of the State of New Mexico
When the Cerro Grande Fire roared out of the mountains and attacked Los Alamos in the year 2000, you — our neighbors — helped us. You sent firefighters, police, National Guard members and assistance of every kind. When our entire county was evacuated, you took us into your homes, made space for us in your schools and businesses, and even sent in teams to search for our pets. When the fire was over and many of us found that our homes were gone or heavily damaged, you provided clothing, blankets and sympathy. Bless you! We will never forget your kindness.
The People of the County of Los Alamos";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the acceptance and installation of the plaque donated by the residents of the county of Los Alamos be approved.
